  Ed was one of my Primary School teachers when I was at Bethel. A great man with integrity who could have choose to look the other way but choose to call bull shit on the great 1914 debacle along with Ray. Yes they gave up the "golden Parachute" and notoriety of being a Bethel "Heavy" to do the right thing. They knew that their lives would never be the same.

  they used to say the world governments would turn on religion.

  i think this part is coming true.

  however they also said since jehovah’s witnesses were going to be the only religion left the governments were going to focus on the “eyeball”of jehovah, his people.

  are there specific rules or watchtower articles that must be followed?.

  i have been to three different wakes/funerals where a disfellowshipped person attended with different results.. 1. ten years ago my first cousin passed away.

  I guess I don't know because when my inactive father died my JW sister never bothered to call me to let me know of his passing. So I guess you could say I was shunned and given no opportunity to attend my own father's funeral.....

  Thoughts on JW funerals

  i recently had the sad opportunity to attend 2 jw funerals.

  the first was a few months ago and the second today.

  the first was my grandfather's and the second of an old friend back from my jw days.

  Yes so true...some lucky JWs might get a whole 5 minutes of eulogy...but not usually.

  Only 5 minutes for their 80 years of life on this planet... how sad.

  But the vast majority get only a minute or two and then its "let me tell you about what Bob really believed in, as a Jehovah's Witness" Their segue into to propaganda.

  We all know the individual means nothing in the organization. That is one of the first things they teach you at Bethel.

  P.S. You know the speaker gets to "count his time"

  yes and just like most pioneers he likes to brag on his selfless life style.

  he is serving the lord my sitting at home and writing out thousands of letters long hand all day long to count his time.

Yes and just like most pioneers he likes to brag on his selfless life style. He is serving the Lord my sitting at home and writing out thousands of letters long hand all day long to count his time. Day after day writing the same "come to Jesus" message everyday. Who knows maybe like Jack Nicholson in "The Shinning" the letters will turn into "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!"
